Begin a relationship with Platinum…
Choosing a piece of Platinum jewellery makes perfect
sense; it is beautiful, elegant and versatile.
The rarity of Platinum makes it a priceless treasure.
There is very little Platinum on this earth and is found
only in a few places around the world.
Where does Platinum come from?
More than 90% of world Platinum produced is concentrated
in the Bushveld complex in South Africa and the Norlisk
region in Russia. Only 133 tons of Platinum is mined
each year, (compared to 1,782 tons of gold). In fact it
is estimated all the Platinum ever mined would fit into
an average living room.
History of Platinum:
Although Platinum is as old as the earth, it gained
popularity in the last century. In modern times it was
the first material capable of holding Diamonds in a
delicate framework leading to the creation of the
beautiful enduring Art Deco pieces of the 1920’s.
The Hope and the Koh-I-Noor are classic examples of
world famous Diamonds that are secured in Platinum
settings.
Today the understated elegance continues to enchant a
new generation of customers.
Platinum vs. Gold:
Platinum’s natural beauty lies in its purity. It is
generally 95% pure compared with 18ct gold which is 75%
pure.
Platinum has a higher density than gold; a Platinum
ring weighs 30% more than an 18ct gold ring of the same
size.
The process of making a piece of Platinum jewellery
requires a higher level of craftsmanship.
Platinum is naturally white, whereas white gold has to
be rhodium plated to achieve a Platinum look. However,
this plating occasionally needs to be reapplied.
This exquisite material is 30 times rarer than gold
making Platinum exclusive and distinctive.
Is Platinum good value?
Platinum represents excellent value for money. The price
may be higher than similar items in gold but Platinum is
pure, rare, hypo- allergic, enduring, beautiful, does
not tarnish, classic, and a perfect host for Diamonds.
